Venkata Ramakrishna Jayanthi, MD

Dr. Rama Jayanthi is chief of the division of pediatric urology at Dayton Children’s, caring for children with conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder and urinary tract. He provides specialized, compassionate care tailored to each child’s needs, with expertise spanning urinary tract infections, hydronephrosis, urinary incontinence, hypospadias and intersex conditions.

After earning his medical degree from The Ohio State University, Dr. Jayanthi completed his urology residency at Albany Medical Center in New York, followed by a fellowship in pediatric urology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

In addition to his role at Dayton Children’s, Dr. Jayanthi serves as chief of urology at Nationwide Children’s and as a clinical professor of surgery in the Department of Urology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He is an advocate for minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures to correct kidney abnormalities and reflux, and has collaborated with anesthesiology colleagues to expand the use of spinal anesthesia for pediatric surgeries—reducing the need for general anesthesia.

Outside of work, Dr. Jayanthi and his wife are enthusiastic empty nesters and devoted fans of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew.
