Professional Statement
Dr. Susan Pena‑Almazan is a pediatric endocrinologist at Dayton Children's who cares for infants, children and teens with hormone conditions that affect growth, development and daily life. She treats diabetes (type 1 and type 2), growth concerns, early or delayed puberty, and thyroid and adrenal disorders. Dr. Almazan explains complex hormone conditions in clear, simple language so families feel informed and confident about their child’s care.
Dr. Almazan believes her role is to be a trusted partner for patients and families, offering balanced information, encouragement and practical support. She is especially passionate about helping young people with diabetes and endocrine disorders transition smoothly into adult care. What she finds most rewarding is building long‑term relationships and supporting patients from diagnosis in infancy through young adulthood—watching them grow healthier, stronger and more independent along the way.

I would like the providers to quit trying to suggest or rather push a caseworker on us every visit and also dietary. Every three months we visit her and every three months we're asked would we like to speak to a social worker or a dietician and we respond no and yet you continue to send them in our room and even when we tell them that were not interested, they refused to listen and continue to ask those questions.
