Michael Ralston, MD is a pediatric cardiologist at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Ralston was born and raised in Springboro, Ohio and graduated Valedictorian of his high school class. He attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine where he completed his medical education and received honors in physiology and radiology. Following college, he spent his internship and residency at Columbus Children's Hospital (now renamed Nationwide Children's Hospital). He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at  Cincinnati Children's Hospital. After  his fellowship, Dr. Ralston became a pediatric cardiologist at Dayton Children's because he knew Dayton would be a great place to raise a family. Dr. Ralston is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. He has a special interest in myocardial imaging and caring for children with congenital heart disease and arrhythmias. When asked why he chose to specialize in pediatric cardiology he said it was because of the tremendous impact he can make on a child's life who has congenital heart disease. One of his favorite things about working with children is their love of life is infectious. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Ralston enjoys collecting quotes, running and soccer.

Dr. Ralston is a very nice, professional man. He's also, he explains things in a way where you can understand him. He drew me pictures and everything so that I could understand what was going on with my grandson. I just really like him. He seemed to be caring and, you know, a concerned doctor, and that's what I, you know, his consideration for my grandson, you know, he want to consider things before he move forward with things. So, yes, I like Dr. Ralston a lot.

The dr was great until he came in with the results of the ultrasound and ekg. Basically he came in and said the results were a normal murmur and that we don’t have to come back again. Which is great news! But I also felt very rushed out and he dismissed my questions. Didn’t even tell me where the murmur was when I ask- just said it’s a murmur mostly ignored my questions.

Also appreciated that he interacted with my daughter at an appropriate developmental level to make her feel comfortable with the exam he was doing. Other doctor visits have ended in tears and she didn’t shed a single tear with Dr. Ralston and his team. Thank you for providing such great care to young kids!!

Dr. Ralston and the nursing staff did a very good job listening to exactly why I was there, what tests I needed ordered, and communicated updates to my timeline as they were available. Dr. Ralston did a great job breaking the ice and making me feel comfortable while he evaluated me. I did wait a significant time between seeing Dr. Ralston and my ECG/echocardiogram, but I think this was because it was around lunch time and I believe the nursing staff did the best they could to get me in and out as quickly as possible.
