Matthew Zachary Dawson, MD

Dr. Matthew Dawson is part of the pediatric hospital medicine team at Dayton Children’s, coordinating care for children admitted to the hospital. They work closely with specialists and families to ensure every child receives seamless, high-quality care. Dr. Dawson is also the associate chief medical safety officer at Dayton Children's, where he is helping to ensure care is provided to the highest standards of safety for patients and staff.

Dr. Dawson is the first in his family to become a doctor and is proud to be the son of a military veteran of 30 years and a school teacher – both of whom are Ohio natives.

When asked why he chose his specialty he shared, "Every little thing you do to improve a child's care can have limitless effects on their long-term health and wellness. There's nothing better than making a sick kid feel better, consoling a worried parent, and teaching future brilliant medical professionals...all within the same hour!"
