Professional Statement
Kelly Blankenship, DO is the division chief of psychiatry at Dayton Children's. Dr. Kelly Blankenship completed her medical school training at Ohio University. She completed her psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Wright State University. Dr. Blankenship then went on to complete an autism/developmental disabilities fellowship at Indiana University. After this she stayed in Indianapolis and worked at a Community Mental Health Center for five years. Dr. Blankenship then transitioned to Grand Rapids, Michigan were she created and directed a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. This program had a focus on adolescent addiction. After three years in Michigan she moved back to Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Blankenship is the associate chief medical officer of mental health at Dayton Children’s Hospital. She is the clinical lead for the current mental health expansion. Dr. Blankenship was born and raised in Dayton and is committed to improving the mental health care for children and adolescents in the Dayton region and beyond. When asked why she enjoys working kids she responded "because they see everything as possible. They don't see barriers like most adults do in every day life. They help us all to think 'outside the box."
