About Grant J Turek

Professional Statement

Grant Turek, MD is a board-certified pediatric neurologist and clinical neurophysiology specialist at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Turek is no stranger to the Dayton region. He attended the University of Dayton where he completed his undergraduate degree in pre-medicine and mechanical engineering technology. After his time in Dayton, he completed his medical school education at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Illinois. He then went on to complete a residency in Child Neurology, a mini-fellowship in epilepsy, and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Dr. Turek has returned to Dayton to join pediatric neurology practice at Dayton Children's, where he aims to help children and families to overcome any roadblock to a child's growth and development.  He believes that every kid deserves a happy and healthy childhood. Dr. Turek chose to specialize in pediatric neurology because the way the brain and nervous system work is unique and inspiring. It excites him to think that while we know so much about the brain, we continue to learn new things daily. When asked why he loves working with children he said, "Their world is still so full of potential and possibility. Even children with complex medical conditions have the capacity to change the world if they have the willpower and many of them do".

Dr. Turek is an amazing man. He is very good with children. He treated my daughter with the utmost respect and made her feel safe and made her feel like she is able to grow out of her seizures. So he is very much appreciated.

Nothing other than Dr Grant Turek is an absolutely phenomenal doctor, he explained everything clearly and concisely even though I already had knowledge about the subject, I’d recommend him to anyone going for neurology

Dr Turek went the extra mile in seeing us for extra time as he knew we were quite distressed over symptoms and answers. He replies quickly and thoughtfully to my messages in My Chart. He’s willing to listen to my Google results on our daughter’s symptoms. We just feel so much better after visiting him. Give that guy a gold star!

Dr. Turek was one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. He was extremely knowledgeable, listened thoroughly and well to all of my son’s symptoms, and explained everything to us very well. He made sure that my son was able to understand as well. He was sympathetic to the fact that our son’s condition was very emotional for him and was extremely compassionate in how he interacted with him. I am so thankful to have him as my son’s doctor.

Dr. Turek has cared for my daughter since her first seizure. He is very thorough in all explanations. He ensures that you and your child both are heard, understood, and everything that he does is centered around the child's care. He doesn't treat the child like you know, one of many patients. Each patient, he makes them seem like they are the only one in his care. Everything about the process is explained very well. Just very, very thoughtful, considerate, intelligent, kind, caring doctor.

My daughter just turned to an adult. It is difficult to want to take her somewhere else when she meets with someone who doesn’t seem rushed at all and takes the time to listen and genuinely see how he can help. Most doctors rush through their appointment with you and make you feel like a number. I appreciate Dr. Turek and the nurses.

The doctor was absolutely amazing. My son has autism and usually he doesn't do well with doctors, especially male doctors. And he was like fussy as soon as, or like upset as soon as he walked in. But then within like five seconds, like Dr. Turek like won him over and like he just has a great time at the doctors, which is like, what we always receive with him, which is like amazing. I highly always recommend Dr. Turek to all my friends' kids that needs a neurologist because he's the absolute best doctor we have ever received.

Dr. Turek took our concerns about our daughter very seriously and spent a lot of time thinking through every step that we asked about. At no point did he give any indication that he was not fully invested in our daughter's care. Our experience with Dr. Turek has been above and beyond, and we are just so thankful that he was willing to take the time to explain everything for us and give us some peace of mind in a very scary situation.

We had a very good experience with Dr. Turek. Over the two years that he took care of our son, after he developed epilepsy and seizure activity, Dr. Turek just seemed to go above and beyond. He's very knowledgeable. He takes the time to listen to you. He takes the time to listen to our son and make sure that how he's feeling, not just what we're seeing or anything. It was all about our son, Carson, as well. So very impressed with Dr. Turek and I would recommend him to anybody and everybody. Thank you, Dr. Turek. Thank you.

Please, do not let this comment go by the wayside. Dr. Grant Turek, is quite possibly one of the most rare, incredible people that I have ever met. The level of care that he provided my son both inpatient and outpatient is unmatched and I believe has directly correlated to better outcomes both with my son’s health and my family’s concern. He specifically listens to concerns thoughtfully and treats his patients with the highest level of respect and dignity. My son, who has an extensive medical history, thoroughly enjoyed his time spent with “The Dr. who I get to hit with the hammer” (reflex hammer) I would like to extend to the administration of Dayton Children’s Hospital my sincere gratitude for having Dr. Turek on your staff. He is an asset that demonstrates and sets the standard of care that all physicians should strive for. Thank you.
