About Christopher J Bugnitz

Professional Statement

Christopher Bugnitz, MD is a pediatric cardiologist and Chief Medical Faculty Development Officer at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Bugnitz was born in St. Louis, MO and raised in Memphis, TN. He graduated college from the University of Notre Dame. He then completed his medical school education at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He spent his pediatrics residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where he stayed on an additional year as a chief resident. After also completing his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Dr. Bugnitz joined the pediatric cardiology practice at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Bugnitz is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. When asked why he chose to specialize in cardiology he responded "I enjoy the challenge of caring for children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Many cardiac diagnoses require lifelong follow-up, which means that I have the privilege of watching my patients grow and thrive." During his time here at Dayton Children's he has developed a special interest in fetal cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac MRI. In addition, he also has a passion for educating his patients and families. One of his favorite things about working with children is getting to witness the love that their parents have for them.

My daughter has been seen by Dr. Bugnitz for a few years and she loves him. He's a great doctor. He explains things and he makes her anxiety better. She has really bad anxiety and he helps her get through it by explaining that she's okay and letting her know that she's in good hands. We really love Dr. Bugnitz and we appreciate everybody in the office that has been there for her through each step of this journey. We appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Everyone was great. The lady who registered us at the desk was calm and kind which is the vibe I needed walking into a specialist office. Everyone was great. The wait was a bit long.

This doctor is really amazing. Makes you feel like you're talking with a friend, a family member, and we love his energy he brings in the room when he comes into the room. So I would definitely recommend this doctor to anybody. And I would have to say thank you because I just love his personality and his excitement. You can tell he loves his job and the way he explains everything to us. It's great.

Very satisfied with our visit with Dr. Bugnitz and our echo tech. They were both outstanding! Both very thorough and compassionate, yet personable. Highly recommend!

We love Dr. Bugnitz! He really does make both my son and I comfortable when he talks about my son's health issues. He gives us clarity, and makes us feel at ease, in otherwise, very stressful situations. Every nurse that has seen my son, has also been very friendly and professional! We've both expressed to family, and friends, just how good we feel about the care my son's received during every appointment with Dr. Bugnitz, and every visit to Dayton Children's Hospital!

The doctor was thorough and answered all of our questions and helped ease any concerns we had about the issue that was being discussed. And he just did a great job making both my daughter and myself feel comfortable and confident in what he said.

I would have liked better explanation as to what signs that he noticed that did not qualify for the heart issue my son had. And they didn't do an EKG even when I said I kind of wish they would have based on the other stuff. So I kind of understood why, understood what he explained for EKGs are not reliable and I second guessed the first thing but I didn't know what signs he was noticing that and just more explanation I guess. And even when I said I wouldn't mind the EKG, I wish to verify if my first one was correct, I kind of wish if he would have done it still again because once I got home I kind of wish I was more assertive in asking that. But that's my only complaint. He listened well and he kind of tried to explain things I just didn't quite understand as well. Thank you.
