Ann Marie Nie, FNP

Ann Marie Nie is a globally recognized expert in wound, ostomy and pressure injury prevention. As a member of the pediatric surgery division at Dayton Children's Hospital. she works collaboratively with members of the inpatient care to prevent pressure injuries. The Cincinnati native received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the College of Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Following college, Ann Marie completed her certification in the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society at Emory University School of Medicine. She then went on to obtain a Masters of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner at Northern Kentucky University. Ann Marie is now in the process of completing her nursing Ph.D. at The Catholic University of America. Ann Marie chose to specialize in wound, ostomy and continence treatment because healing a wound gives individuals a sense of "being whole". When there is an open area of the skin, it greatly affects a person's sense of self. Preventing pressure injuries not only helps the hospital, but it assists the patient in not having to deal with a wound that was created during hospitalization. Her favorite thing about working with kids is how open and honest they are, and how much they love life! Fun facts: Ann Marie is one of 10 children! She loves Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang!
